Moving Memory is a company of older women (over 50) who have been using movement, music, spoken word and digital projection in participatory and performance work for over six years. They challenge perceived notions of age, ageing and beauty and celebrate the vitality of participants. Their experience and understanding has led to a unique, inclusive, peer-led programme of movement activities that help keep older people physically fit and mentally stimulated.
The company is currently being funded by the Nominet Trust and The Baring Foundation's Digital Arts and Creative Ageing programme to devise new ways of sharing what we do with active, and frailer, older people. If you are an older person, or if you work with older people, you are most welcome to come and join us. You will find out more about what the company does and how it works and we will be grateful for any feedback you can give us.
Who are Doris and Vera?
'Doris' is a digital assistant which projects images demonstrating warm-up exercises and offering creative stimulations (including participants' personal pictures). We are seeking ways to make Doris as user-friendly as possible and developing training to support people who want to use "her". "Vera" is a new, experimental digital tool which will allow a much more interactive experience for participants ' an experience we hope will encourage more creative movement and shared choreography.
