The Sensory Trust are making a Fun Palace this year, working in collaboration with the brilliant Potager Gardens and case, home of one of our dementia friendly activity groups, the Potager Peas, who meet fortnightly at Potager. As part of the Fun Palace, we will be launching an exhibition of photography, based on the Potager Peas' regular activity sessions and there will be a chance to try out a range of nature based craft activities suitable for all ages, as well as two special guided walks of the garden.
The exhibition will feature a collection of poignant images depicting how each member feels about their involvement with the group accompanied by words describing what it means to them on a personal level. The exhibition will form part of the landscape and participants will be invited to step into the shoes of the Potager Pears' as they follow the same journey around the garden that the group make each session. You will see where they check on their hedgehog hotel that they built last year, where they cut flowers to make table decorations for the cafe and then visit the plot where the group cultivate the land and share stories. The exhibition has been designed to illuminate their relationship as a group and to the garden and you will be carried through the garden by their words.
There will also be a chance to try out a range of nature based craft activities that are suitable for all ages as well as two special guided walks of the garden at 11am and 2pm.
Entry is free and promises to be a great opportunity to meet new people and try some creative activities, there really will be something for everyone at this unique inter-generational event.
